A LITTLE CONTEXT
The built-in Custom type is there when an occasion doesn’t fit another label. If you find yourself saving similar dates, create a named type in Settings → Date types → New type. Choose its appearance and the details new events should ask for. It becomes a reusable starting point, so you don’t have to make the same choices every time.
A FEW WAYS TO MAKE IT YOURS
Create a yearly type with a name and icon that mean something to you, and a reminder to plan a small celebration.
Create a monthly type for a personal hobby day, with an optional note about what you want to try.
Make a type with fields such as a provider link or reference note, keeping only the details you actually need.
FROM A THOUGHT TO A SAVED DATE
Once you have application access, here’s how to get started.
Open Settings → Date types → New type. Add a title, icon, colour and optional description.
Set whether contacts and times are required, optional or unused. Choose allowed schedules and a default.
Set default reminders and optional custom fields, save the type, then select it when you create a date.
Custom is a built-in option you can pick for an individual date. A new custom type is a reusable category with its own title, icon, colour, creation rules and fields. Use the simple option first if that is all you need.
Yes. Contact rules can require a contact, make it optional or use no contacts. Time rules can require a time, make it optional or keep events date-only.
Add details your kind of date often needs, such as a reference, a provider URL, a number, an extra date or a choice from a list. You can create up to 12 fields and decide which are required.
Yes, if you enable event reminder overrides for the type. Otherwise new events use the type’s default reminders. Minute and hour offsets need an event time; date-only types use day or week offsets.
Changes to the title, icon and colour are reflected on existing dates. Creation rules are different: existing events retain the rules saved with them, while new events use the updated rules.
Yes. The app lets you personalise built-in types as well as create new ones. Remember that a type’s creation rules determine what new events ask for and which schedules they allow.
The supported patterns are one-time, monthly and yearly. A custom type can choose among those options; it does not add weekly recurrence or arbitrary scheduling rules.
