Adding a birthday when you do not know the birth year

Many useful birthday reminders do not need an age. If you know the day and month, Daytely can still help you remember the occasion each year.

01

Leave the year unknown

Do not guess a birth year. A guessed year can produce a wrong age and may feel intrusive. Keep only the date information you actually know.

02

Use an annual recurrence

A birthday normally repeats yearly on the saved month and day. Choose advance notice based on whether you plan a message, call, gift or gathering.

03

Handle 29 February deliberately

Leap-day birthdays need a personal convention in non-leap years. Ask the person whether they prefer 28 February or 1 March rather than assuming.

04

Ask with context when it matters

If the date is missing, a simple explanation can make the question natural: you would like to remember next time. Respect a person who prefers not to share it.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few useful answers.

Can Daytely calculate age without a year?

No. Age requires a verified birth year, but the birthday reminder can still recur annually.

Should I enter an estimated year?

No. Leave it unknown until you have reliable information.

What happens to a 29 February birthday?

Your chosen convention should determine the reminder in non-leap years; record that preference in the note.
