World Kindness Day is marked on 13 November by organizations and communities in many countries. It is not a United Nations observance. The World Kindness Movement, an international nonreligious and nonpolitical NGO, traces the annual date to the movement formed in the late 1990s.
Kindness should meet a real need
The movement’s history presents the day as a focus on goodwill across differences. In practice, a kind act works best when the receiver wants it. Ask before helping, respect boundaries and avoid turning someone else’s difficult moment into content.
Small does not mean shallow
Return a borrowed item, check an access need, bring food someone can eat, credit a colleague’s work, or make a patient phone call. Kindness can also mean changing an unfair routine, even when that takes more effort than a cheerful gesture.
Build a repeatable cue
Choose one action that fits your life and attach it to an existing rhythm: message a distant friend on the second Friday, contribute monthly, or carry a spare umbrella during the rainy season. Reliability turns intention into trust.
Add 13 November to Daytely as a custom date, then schedule the habit on the days when it will actually help.
